In one of the most beautiful villages of France with spectacular views overlooking the river valley and set in a beautiful landscaped park of 1,5 HA, a chateau and guest cottages, renovated to a very high standard. The Chateau is tastefully restored and has unlimited privacy and is very secure.

Aubeterre sur Dronne is a charming village with its narrow winding roads, a river beach, a famous monolithic church , a lively town square with terraces and shops. It is listed as 'one of the most beautiful villages of France', and has a rich history, as a stop on the pilgrim's route to Santiago de Compostela, and birthplace of the founder of the Human Rights league , Ludovic Trarieux.

The Chateau itself is situated on a rock formation; completely walled with large towers, it dates back to the XIth century, and was completely restored in the XIVth century.

The imposing entrance looks out onto the central village square, the back on to forest and fields.
The Chateau stands above the monolithic church, the largest in Europe. A passage now closed linked the castle to the church.

Before the castle was built there were already people living in this area, the first Christians and possibly other people before them.
Julius Caesar has had an oppidum romanum built , later there was a cloister in this place.
